Elementary Education Program

A successful elementary school experience provides children with a solid foundation for learning and social interaction. Renfrew’s Elementary Education Program gives children with highly complex needs a safe environment in which to grow and develop their joy of learning.

At Renfrew, students learn to problem solve, persevere, and access, acquire and process information in ways that promote resourcefulness and self-confidence. Students also learn to listen and relate to others with respect, cooperation, and compassion.

Our certified teachers modify the Alberta Program of Studies to meet their students’ specific needs and areas for growth. Working in collaboration with child development facilitators, on-site therapists and parents, they develop individualized programs for each student using a variety of best practice tools and resources. Music, art, physical fitness and life skills are vital components of our programming.

Renfrew’s Elementary Education Program runs full days, Monday to Friday. (NOTE: Elementary Education students attend on alternate Fridays as per the schedule: EEP Fridays Calendar ) To best meet the needs of the children, class sizes are kept small and a minimum ratio of one adult staff member for every three students is maintained.
