Wellness Empowerment Program

The Wellness Empowerment Program (WEP) is a community school-based mental health capacity building initiative which promotes positive mental health outcomes in children, youth, families, and individuals in the community.

Since 2008, Renfrew’s wellness coaches have been working with children ages 0-5, teachers, and parents to enhance their knowledge and skills to support positive mental health. Working in the classroom, our coaches consult with teachers and school administration, run school-wide events for students, and hold parent information sessions. Our coaches also offer workshops, information and resources to youth, school staff, and families in the community on topics such as:

  • Academic and life balance
  • Healthy relationships
  • Communication skills
  • Social emotional learning
  • Coping with stress
  • Understanding emotions
  • Culturally sensitive sexual health education
  • And lots more!
