Giovanni is a sweet, funny and affectionate 5 year old who’s been attending Renfrew for the past 3 years. He was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two. He’s now in ECS3 at our TBC location and also works closely with team members from Specialized Services!
Giovanni’s team describe him as a happy, curious and an inquisitive child. He has a great sense of humour, loves the alphabet, and loves animals (specifically birds). He knows so many bird species and is often teaching us about them! One of his favourite games to play is hide and seek in MMR with his peers.
We toured a couple of schools prior to Renfrew and when we walked in we knew immediately we were in the right place. We felt welcomed and informed, and had a difficult time leaving because Giovanni was having so much fun! We also liked how the school would work together with the Specialized Services Program to work on the same goals. The clear open line of communication between TBC, SSP and us as a family was very important so we could all be on the same page.Giovanni’s Mother
Giovanni has made so much progress in so many areas, and has made the biggest gains in his speech and social skills. There was a time as parents we were prepared that Giovanni may not be verbal. We focused on small but mighty goals and he has continuously made amazing progress. He went from using a communication device to now having a vocabulary of 500+ words!
To this day we are still so happy with the decision we made. We would recommend Renfrew to other families and are so thankful for the progress Giovanni has made. The support and communication from the school, teachers and therapy team has been above and beyond.
